Ode to Mother Frances Schervier
The dance is honoring the originator of the “Franciscan Sisters of the Poor,” Mother Frances Schervier.
Frances was a woman of her times. She was keenly aware of the problems
of the society in which she lived and roused others to assist her in
alleviating the misery of the poor and suffering people in her city.
She was imaginative, creative, and inventive when it came
to ministering to the needs of the poor and suffering people of her
This piece was choreographed for a ceremony honoring her life. It ends with spoken words which honor the Sisters who today live her values, committed to easing the suffering, washing the wounds, and soothing the pain of all.
